Just released is the new Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream Special Edition ZO9283 watch done in partnership with none other than aBlogtoWatch founder Ariel Adams. Inspired by a trip to the Bahamas, the Aquamarine Dream is an ode to the pristine waters of Nassau and the latest iteration of Zodiac’s classic dive watch. A melange of aquamarine, subtle turquoise, and seafoam green, the Aquamarine Dream is released just in time for summer.

Though Ariel worked with Zodiac in designing this watch, I didn’t have any personal involvement in the product and haven’t been influenced or incentivized to speak glowingly of it.

“For my Super Sea Wolf design, I wanted to not only create a distinctive color palette but also a revised dial that matched my own personal tastes as someone who has been collecting watches for nearly 20 years…I want this watch to take me back to Nassau and the same state of mind whenever I look at it — anyone who has seen these blues and greens under the waves will be immediately transported to the shallows, as well.”

I’ve never been to Nassau, but I did live in Key West for a year, and the Aquamarine Dream is certainly evocative of that pristine, almost turquoise water. In a lot of ways, it reminds me of the H. Moser & Cie Blue Lagoon, not because the products are similar in execution (wouldn’t be fair to compare the Zodiac with a watch that costs well over 10 times as much) but because they both attempt to recreate these magically iridescent waters.

With 200M of water resistance, the Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream comes in a steel case that measures 40mm-wide and 13.6mm-thick. The lighter and darker shades on the hardened mineral glass aquamarine bezel echo the color scheme of the dial. A really nice touch that took me a minute or two to notice is the gently rounded edges on the markers and hands, designed to evoke the soft corners of underwater rocks. I believe a date window here would have disrupted the cohesion of the design, and I’m glad it was left out.

Naturally, the hands and markers are lumed, as is the pip on the unidirectional bezel.

Turning the watch over shows the enclosed steel case back with an enamel-filled center reading “I’d rather be swimming” in Ariel’s handwriting. Beneath this caseback is the COSC-certified STP 3-13 movement, made in Basel, Switzerland at the Fossil group’s STP manufacture (that we visited here). The STP 3-13 has an operating frequency of 4 Hz and a power reserve of just about 44 hours. Though you can’t see it due to the enclosed caseback, this movement also has a swan-neck regulator, which is not something you often see, especially in this price bracket.

“The opportunity for inspiration came in 2019 when I was traveling to the island of Nassau in the Bahamas. An aBlogtoWatch community member won a giveaway promotion we did with Zodiac, and I spent several hours a day in the water wearing a variety of Zodiac watches. While in the water, I kept looking at the distinctive Caribbean shades of aquamarine on the seafloor. The colors were beautiful, soothing, and natural. I took some pictures and knew then that I wanted to create a Zodiac timepiece that celebrated that view and reminded me of swimming off those inviting shores.”

In addition to the classic five-link Zodiac steel bracelet, the Aquamarine Dream also comes with a rubber strap that is supple, comfortable, and matches the case and dial very nicely. The Zodiac Super Sea Wolf Aquamarine Dream ZO9283 is priced at $1,495 and will be available at select retail partners as well as here on zodiacwatches.com
