Jaeger-LeCoultre is a producer of Swiss luxury watches and movements, owned and operated by the Richemont Group, a large luxury group that also owns other high-end watch brands such as Cartier, IWC, Piaget, Roger Dubuis, Vacheron Constantin, and more.
The watchmaker LeCoultre was founded in 1833 by Antoine LeCoultre in Switzerland, an inventor obsessed with timekeeping accuracy. The watchmaker is called Jaeger-LeCoultre since 1937 after Frenchman Edmond Jaeger met Jacques-David LeCoultre in 1903. Jaeger-LeCoultre, or JLC, as it is also frequently referred to, has over its history registered 430 patents and created 1,300 unique movements. The company’s signature watch features include the minute repeater, the Gyrotourbillon, and the Celestial display.
Jaeger-LeCoultre watches range from relatively more competitively priced pieces such as the Polaris Automatic and Master Control Memovox to high five-figure priced luxury timekeepers in steel or precious metals with various additional features, such as the Duometre Chronographe, Reverso Duoface Calendar, Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar, and Polaris Mariner Memovox. Jaeger-LeCoultre frequently pays tribute to its classic vintage watches, especially in the Reverso and Master collections.
For watch enthusiasts, the most popular Jaeger-LeCoultre products tend to fall within the Polaris and Reverso lines, as well as the very high-end, complicated watch creations like the Duometre and Hybris Mechanica.
