At 39mm wide, the Voutilainen 28 Hisui is about average in size for a Voutilainen timepiece and here is offered in solid platinum. The attached strap has lovely green stitching and is made from soft alligator. It is incredibly comfortable to wear, and the expansive dial makes it feel a bit larger than it is. It is seriously one of the most eye pleasing artistic watches I have ever had the pleasure of putting on my wrist… and then, there is the back of the watch.
What Kari Voutilianen also had the Unryuan studio do was decorate the movement bridges and mainspring barrel. The in-house made Voutilainen movement looks even more impressive with the mosaic decoration. Even looking at my own pictures of the Voutilainen 28 Hisui movement excites me to no end. There is a galaxy of beauty here and if there was something worth spending over $200,000 on, it is an object like this.
Inside the Voutilainen 28 Hisui watch is a manually wound time only movement with Kari Voutilainen’s unique direct impulse double escapement wheel system and a balance wheel operating at 18,000 bph. The movement is the Voutilainen caliber 28-80 and, while simple, it is a horological work of art, representing the meticulous and picture prefect finishing that Voutilainen is known for.
The Voutilainen 28 Hisui watch has a sort of nick-name engraved on the movement, which is “A L’Emeraude,” because of the emerald color of the dial. Of course, there is a real emerald stone cabochon set into the crown of the watch. In most ways, the Voutilainen 28 Hisui is a masterpiece of work by both Kitamura Tetsuo and Kari Voutilainen. In that regard, it is even more special than most highly exclusive luxury watches because it represents the work of two highly acclaimed masters, and not just one.
Once again, the Voutilainen 28 Hisui watch is a one-of-a-kind piece unique model, and the price is 220,000 Swiss Francs. voutilainen.ch
