While the brand’s catalog now includes models in a variety of different shapes and forms, perhaps no single design is more emblematic of the Bell & Ross brand itself than its classic square-shaped case silhouette. Over the years, this iconic case design has served as the foundation for a wide range of different models and in this video, Bell & Ross Western Regional Sales Manager Robert Kolcon gives us a walk-through of the three latest limited-edition pieces to join the brand’s catalog, including the BR 05 Skeleton in green, the BR 03-94 Multimeter, and the BR 03-92 Radiocompass, which all offer three very different takes on this Bell & Ross signature aesthetic.
Up first is the latest 2022 limited edition of the brand’s popular BR 05 Skeleton watch, which first made an appearance in 2019 and immediately sold out the first weekend it was launched. Each year since its inaugural debut, Bell & Ross has made it a tradition to produce a different limited-edition version of the BR 05 Skeleton watch, each one distinguished by the color of its transparent sapphire dial. While previous years editions gave us the Blue and Nightlum variations, the 2022 model showcases a striking military green color and represents the next step in the BR 05 Skeleton chromatic timeline.
The 40mm stainless steel case of the BR 05 Skeleton Green offers the same fan-favorite profile as other models from the successful BR 05 series, which reimagines the brand’s signature design language to be an entirely more refined overall package that measures just 10.33mm-thick with a sapphire display caseback. The vibrant color of the watch is achieved by its green transparent sapphire crystal dial, which offers a view of the skeletonized BR-CAL.322 automatic movement within and features an elevated chapter ring with three-dimensional hour markers that are filled with Super-LumiNova. Produced as a limited edition of 500 pieces and available with the option of either a matching stainless steel bracelet or an olive green rubber strap, the limited-edition Bell & Ross BR 05 Skeleton Green will be accompanied by an official retail price of $6,500 USD when purchased on the strap, or $7,000 USD should buyers opt for the bracelet version.
Next is the Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter, which is a unique and colorful timepiece that reimagines the brand’s classic instrument-inspired chronograph to be a completely analog multi-purpose fitness watch. The 42mm matte black ceramic case measures 12.8mm-thick and comes from the brand’s Instruments collection, which offers a purpose-built and utilitarian aesthetic that looks like it came directly from the cockpit and onto your wrist. While the external case of the Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter offers a classic and familiar overall design, the dial of the watch is truly unique and unlike anything else that currently exists on the market.
The multi-colored surface of the dial features numerous different scales, which allows the BR-CAL.301 automatic chronograph movement powering the watch to be used in six different ways and measure a variety of different sport and fitness metrics, in addition to being able to record elapsed time. A pulsometer scale appears in red for tracking heart rate and pulse, while an asthmometer is printed in teal and allows users to measure their breathing rate. Additionally, there are three different tachymeter scales, with each one calibrated for a different popular sporting activity. The white tachymeter scale is for automobile racing, while the lime green and khaki scales have been calibrated for cycling and running, respectively. To help keep track of the different scales and their base units, a color-coordinated key is printed on the left-hand side of the dial, while a circular date window sits between the 12 o’clock and 1 o’clock positions. Positioned as the ideal sports chronograph for the fitness enthusiast who wants to keep things completely analog, the Bell & Ross BR 03-94 Multimeter is accompanied by an official retail price of $5,800 USD and will be produced as a limited edition of 500 pieces.
Lastly, rounding out the trio of new limited-edition models is the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Radiocompass, which is the latest timepiece from the brand to be a direct recreation of a specific aviation device commonly found within the instrument cluster of an aircraft. Built around a matte black ceramic case that follows the bold and utilitarian aesthetic of the Bell & Ross Instruments collection, the BR 03-92 Radiocompass measures 42mm-wide by 10.4mm-thick, and it takes the purpose-built appearance of an airplane’s on-board radio navigation tool and transforms it into a unique timepiece with a striking and highly distinct handset.
Although a number of different Bell & Ross watches draw their aesthetic inspiration from aviation instruments, the BR 03-92 Radiocompass takes things one step further and offers virtually the exact same design as what you will find inside the cockpit of an airplane. The matte black dial has been reimagined to display the hours, minutes, and seconds with high-contrast white concentric scales, while the time itself is indicated by three colorful and uniquely shaped hands that are heavily inspired by the indicators that appear on an aircraft’s radio compass. Each of the hands is finished a different color for at-a-glance legibility, and Bell & Ross has added a small “H” and “M” to the hour and minute hands, respectively, as a way to make their already highly-visible designs even easier to read. Accompanied by an official retail price of $4,100 USD, the Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Radiocompass will be produced as a limited edition of 999 pieces.
While all three of these new limited-edition Bell & Ross watches feature the brand’s signature aesthetic with a square-shaped case housing a circular dial with a quartet of visible screws on the upper surface surrounding the bezel, each one offers a very different take on this instantly-recognizable design language. The Bell & Ross BR 03-92 Radiocompass is the very definition of the brand’s “from the cockpit to the wrist” design ethos, while the BR 05 Skeleton Green is a modern reinterpretation of this iconic design that is perfectly suited for a modern urban lifestyle. Additionally, sitting in the middle is the BR 03-94 Multimeter, which transforms the classic cockpit instrument into a multi-purpose fitness watch built for today’s avid sports enthusiast. All three of these new limited-edition watches for 2022 will be available from authorized Bell & Ross retailers, although given their limited production numbers and overall popularity among collectors, expect available examples to be claimed rather quickly.
