With 2013 almost over, I felt a small recap of the most popular watch blog stories of 2013 might be interesting to look at. These are often difficult to predict but the results are surprising. First, we find that list-style articles perform well on aBlogtoWatch. These appeal to a wider audience than dedicated reviews of hands-on coverage and we are pleased to see a very healthy mainstream interest in content about timepieces. Second, we find that popular brands clearly perform best. Rolex, Omega, and Seiko, as well as Hublot are all the topics of specific articles that have proved successful.
What is also interesting, is that most of these articles (but not all) were actually written in 2013. We’d like to think that our best content has been from the last few years, but also know that Google has a tendency to promote newer-versus-older content when possible. Lastly, to put all this into perspective, we’ve found that unique visitors read articles on aBlogtoWatch over 12,000,000 times in 2013. So, let’s look at our top 10 most read watch stories of 2013:
10. Ten Things To Know About How Rolex Makes Watches
This is the most recently written article to make the list, being written in mid-November 2013. Nevertheless, we learned a lot while visiting the four Rolex manufacture locations and wrote this piece which is probably important to know for anyone interested in watches.

9. Collecting Vintage Omega Watches
In 2011 we provided a nice primer on how to start collecting vintage Omega watches. After studying the market and visiting the Omega museum in Switzerland we went hands-on with some of the coolest vintage Omega watches around.

8. Top 10 Watches Of Baselworld 2013
Covering our top list of watches from the Baselworld watch trade show (in Basel, Switzerland) is an annual ritual and these appear to be widely relied upon by both watch retailers and buyers.

7. Hands-On With the Hublot MP-05 La Ferrari
In 2013 Hublot released its most impressive Ferrari watch yet. The MP-05 La Ferrari is inspired by a Ferrari Engine bay and has a power reserve of a full 50 days (that is 1,200 hours).

6. Top 10 Watches To Help You Survive The Zombie Apocalypse
We love debating what the best watch is for the right situation. That often boils down to the best watch for survival. In 2007 we discussed the best watches to survive on a deserted island and in 2013 we updated that list and focused on what the best watches might be to survive a (hypothetical) zombie apocalypse.
