Launched in the summer of 2022 and named after a historic maritime village on the North Shore of Long Island, the Northport dive watch by Islander quickly grew into one of the brand’s most popular models. While the collection began with four colorways, two additional ones have been added to the lineup, and more are planned. The result is a generous assortment of colors, ranging from classic shades like blue and black to more head-turning hues such as purple and orange. Regardless of the specific color, what you get with any Islander Northport is a well-built and affordable hi-beat diving watch with plenty of thoughtful details throughout.

The Islander Northport features a stainless steel case that measures 40.5mm in diameter, 12.5mm thick, and 47mm lug-to-lug. Thanks to the use of female end-links (AKA negative end-links), there’s no overhanging of the lugs, providing a better fit for a range of wrist sizes. The top and flanks of the case have a brushed finish — circular for the top and horizontal for the flanks — as does the screw-down crown. The polished chamfers contrast nicely with the rest of the case finishing.

Some Islander Northport watches are paired with dressier five-link bracelets while others are fitted with sportier three-link bracelets. Both styles are fully brushed (top and sides included) and they taper from 20mm at the lugs to 16mm at the clasp. The fully milled micro-adjust clasp offers six positions for that perfect fit and the links, including end links, are all solid. Weight-wise, the Islander Northport watch weighs a very manageable 165 grams, bracelet included. Plus, Islander also sells both bracelets separately if you want the option of changing up the Northport’s style.

On top of the 200m-water-resistant case is a 120-click unidirectional rotating bezel with coin-edged ratcheting for better gripping, while the 60-minute timing bezel insert is fashioned from either sapphire crystal or ceramic, depending on the specific variant. Both materials not only provide scratch resistance but also add visual interest to the style of the watch. What’s more, some bezels have fully lumed markers, too.

Leaning into the water-ready vibe of the watch is the embossed ripple motif decorating the dials, inspired by the Long Island Sound. Depending on how the light hits the dial, the ripple pattern can look quite dramatic or subtly fade into the background. The dials are home to baton hour markers and baton hour and minute hands, all generously filled with Super-LumiNova for legibility in low light.  Some Northport models emit a blue (BGW9 Super-LumiNova) glow while others shine green (C3 Super-LumiNova). The indexes are thicker at 9, 12, and 3 o’clock while a framed date window sits at 6 o’clock. Protecting the dial is a flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal.

Powering the Islander Northport is a Miyota 9015 automatic movement. It operates at a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, meaning the seconds hand ticks 8 times per second, resulting in a smooth sweeping appearance. The Miyota 9015 supplies 40 hours of power reserve, has hacking seconds, and can also be wound by hand when needed.

• Ocean Blue Northport ref. ISL-195: Ocean blue to white gradient dial, ocean and white sapphire bezel, BGW9 lume
• Fireball Northport ref. ISL-196: Sunset orange dial, sunset orange sapphire bezel, C3 lume
