For this episode of SUPERLATIVE, aBlogtoWatch Founder Ariel Adams sits down with Jorn Werdelin, Co-founder of Linde Werdelin. The two explore the beginnings of Linde Werdelin, discuss the difference of challenges that start-ups previously had than those coming about today, and how the change of manufacturing capacity impacted the ability to start in the industry. Ariel talks about what the perfect world for marketing a watch brand would look like, and how the speed of the watch industry continues to humble those within it. They also look into the future battles of the watch industry when it comes to things like materials and finishings, and finally, Jorn is asked to give some advice and guidance to young entrepreneurs in the industry today. Listen below or on the player of your choice.
Linde Werdelin was founded in 2002 by Morten Linde and Jorn Werdelin, two Danish designers who wanted to create watches that looked different while still being highly functional and geared toward adventurers. The brand launched its first model in 2007, and 20 years on, the brand still has a unique aesthetic unseen elsewhere in horology. With its innovative use of materials, form, and function, the brand’s current offerings include the GMT 3 Timer, the ultra-dimensional Spido, and the moon display Oktopus.
