Having been described as “a veritable wonderland for the high-end timepiece fan,” the Stephen Silver Watch Boutique has curated a collection of watch brands that is the epitome of haute horlogerie in Silicon Valley. It opened two years ago, and to celebrate the anniversary we are proud to host a round table on independent watchmaking at our Menlo Park, CA, location. We will feature a panel that will include Ariel Adams of aBlogtoWatch as well as speakers from brands such as Greubel Forsey, Richard Mille, Audemars Piguet, Hermes, Bell & Ross, as well as MB&F (who will be bringing something special, so keep reading).
Silicon Valley loves luxury watches, but for elite collectors not just any timepiece will do. Real players here are understated and sophisticated – quiet in the way they position the status they’ve earned. The valley’s inner circle has a keen eye that can easily identify a unique piece on a wrist across the room. Too traditional for gimmicky complications, local collectors’ aspirations of donning the best of the best without being too expected is undeniable.
When we opened our flagship store in the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, CA, two years ago, we didn’t expect the evolution of our curated collection to unfold as it has. In our first few months of operation, we sold not one but two Greubel Forsey pieces – a brand we didn’t even carry at the time. This sharpened our perspective on what collectors in the valley are really looking for – limited-production timepieces handcrafted by spirited watchmakers.
This revelation drove our mix of timepieces to now include mechanically stunning brands like MB&F and F.P. Journe. Not that our collectors don’t appreciate a fine Patek or Rolex – Silicon Valley covets unicorns. They want the pieces that nobody else will have like one of the famed Greubel Forsey Double Tourbillon 30° Techniques in an all-sapphire case.
To celebrate our second anniversary, we are hosting a live timepiece conversation that will focus on the state of independence in high watchmaking. We’ve invited haute horology experts to discuss the magic of the independent luxury watch brands and why Silicon Valley is flocking to them. Our panelists include:
ARIEL ADAMS, aBlogtoWatch
JAMES MALCOMSON, Robb Report
SOPHY RINDLER, RedBar
FREDERIC WATRELOT, Christie’s
MANUEL YAZIJIAN, Watch Inspector
After the conversation, we will be showcasing rare pieces that are brought in especially for this event. We have it on good authority that MB&F is bringing their newly released HM8, the HM6 Sapphire Vision, as well as the Legacy Machine Perpetual in rose gold. Watch representatives in attendance will include Steven Rostovsky – Greubel Forsey; Phil Ogle – MB&F; Anton Runianto – Richard Mille; Craig Weiss – Audemars Piguet; Adam Jarvis – Hermes; and Daniel Lee – Bell & Ross.
We invite aBlogtoWatch readers to join us on October 25th at our Watch Boutique inside the Rosewood Sand Hill in Menlo Park, CA. Seating is limited, so please find more details & RSVP by clicking here, and we look forward to seeing you! shsilver.com
