Founded in early 2018 by two young entrepreneurs looking to inspire people to rise above the status quo, the PWR Collective Journey Ascent Chronograph is focused on a design meant to stand out. Consistent in quality and bold design, PWR Collective encourages its wearers to embed their own stories into their watches, with the Ascent representing all those individuals who are grinding daily toward fulfilling their dreams. With two more pieces coming soon, the full set will consist of the Aspire, Ascent and Apex, reflecting all the steps of conquering a journey. The Journey Ascent Chronograph is meant to be available to a large swath of buyers, with prices starting at $150.
The overall design and vibe of the watch is that of a contemporary chronograph. The raised circular bezel contains six screws evenly distributed across its surface, boasting a sense of resourcefulness in its craftsmanship. Complementing the visually striking aesthetic of the watch is its absolute quality and durability in the build. The watch is PVD-coated and comprised of a 316L grade stainless steel case, and it sports the ever-reliable Citizen Miyota Quartz movement ticking at its heart.
Tending to the increasing trend for high-end luxury watches to include rubber straps, the Journey Ascent features both metal and rubber strap options, catering to both casual and formal-wear occasions. Unlike cheaper timepieces that use soft silicone straps, PWR watches feature rubber straps made of vulcanized rubber, known to be solid and element-proof, yet comfortable. To augment its versatility in use, the Journey Ascent product line features 10 ATM on all its watches, making it completely waterproof for surface-level swimming.
The dial of the watch is both gracefully simplistic and functional. Its hands are elegantly designed, contributing to an easy-to-read dial layout, accentuated by a sunray finish, which ensures that the watch face is always glistening in the light. However, this seems to be the standard for PWR — they have taken a step further to include a special addition of Super-LumiNova into the hour hand, minute hand and hourly indices, allowing those pieces to glow bright green in dark conditions. Without a doubt, their timepieces are as bold in their design as their brand story.
