Two years after its debut in 2022, the Panerai Navy SEALs watch capsule collection welcomes another four models to its lineup. These new iterations come complete with camouflage straps, target-inspired running seconds subdials, and the special operations unit’s insignia on the caseback. The four new models are the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy SEALs PAM01518, Submersible QuarantaQuattro GMT Navy SEALs Carbotech PAM01513, Submersible Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521, and Submersible Chrono Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521.

Before digging into the specifics of each model, it’s worthwhile to point out the batch of design details they all share. For instance, the quartet of Navy SEALs Submersibles includes the same gradient dials, which darken from anthracite at the center to black at the edge. Furthermore, sand-colored Super-LumiNova is used across hands, hour markers, and subdials. The unidirectional rotating bezels also include a beige-lumed pearl at the zero position. Additionally, there are the aforementioned target-style small seconds at 9 o’clock and all the dials are branded with a beige NAVY SEALS inscription right above 6 o’clock.

All of the references are accompanied by two straps — the rubber and AOR-1 camouflage-patterned (the same design used on the U.S. Navy Working Uniform) textile straps seen in these photos, in addition to more subdued black accordion rubber straps. Finally, all the casebacks are engraved with the official Navy SEALs insignia, known as the SEAL Trident, comprising the anchor, the eagle, the trident, and the flintlock pistol.

The simplest of the foursome is the Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy SEALs PAM01518, with a 44mm brushed stainless steel case water resistant to 300 meters. The dial is time-only and the self-winding movement is the Caliber P.900 with a three-day power reserve.

The other 44mm option is the Submersible QuarantaQuattro GMT Navy SEALs Carbotech PAM01513, featuring a 500-meter water-resistant Carbotech case. Inside the case and behind the DLC titanium caseback is the Caliber P.900/GMT automatic movement, driving the hour, minute, small seconds, and GMT hands on the dial, as well as the date window at 3 o’clock.

Next up is the Submersible Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521 (unfortunately, no press images were supplied prior to publishing), sporting a large 47mm brushed titanium case, topped with a Carbotech bezel. This version is water resistant to 300 meters and relies on the three-day power reserved Caliber P.9010 for the hour, minute, small seconds, and date window on the dial.

Finally, the most imposing of them all is the Submersible Chrono Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521 with a 47mm DLC-treated titanium case with a matte black ceramic bezel and a pair of chronograph pushers on the left-hand side of the case. The dial is home to a duo of subdials — one for the obligatory running seconds and the other for the chronograph hours — along with a “time to target” countdown. Essentially, Panerai uses the same Caliber P.9100/R flyback chronograph, vertical-clutch, 3-day-power-reserve movement found within its selection of regatta chronographs but reinterprets the sailing race start time countdown to one that’s suitable for military exercises. The countdown is programmed via the pusher at 4 o’clock, whereby each push adds 1 minute to the countdown.

How do we feel about someone wearing a watch that says “NAVY SEALS” so boldly on the dial if they’re not actually a (retired or active) SEAL? Is this just a case of enthusiastic cosplay, or is it a little stolen-valor adjacent? Maybe I’m just overthinking it and it’s simply about unabashed admiration and support for the special ops unit, similar to a sports fan wearing a team jersey. After all, Panerai certainly isn’t the first watch brand to sell military-branded watches to civilians. The Submersible QuarantaQuattro Navy SEALs PAM01518 will retail for $10,200 USD whereas the Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro GMT Navy SEALs Carbotech PAM01513 is priced at $19,700 USD. The Submersible Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01669 will retail for $13,700 USD and the Submersible Chrono Navy SEALs Titanio PAM01521 costs $34,200 USD. Exclusively available at Panerai boutiques, the PAM01518, PAM01513, and PAM01669 will be available from 24 September 2024 whereas the PAM01521, limited to 80 pieces, will hit shelves in October 2024.
