First launched in 2021 as a GMT-equipped version of the brand’s popular 40mm dive watch, the Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT has enjoyed somewhat of a cult following over the past couple of years due to its versatile case size and practical set of features. While Bremont has produced a handful of different versions of the standard three-handed model, the S302 GMT has only been offered in a single colorway; however, that has just changed with the brand’s latest new release of 2023. Under its recently appointed CEO Davide Cerrato, Bremont has launched a refreshed series of Supermarine S302 GMT watches that consists of two standard-production models and one limited-edition version that is produced in collaboration with Ocean Ramsey, the Bremont ambassador, marine biologist, conservationist, and professional free-diver.

While the original Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT is essentially a dive watch with added GMT functionality, the updated 2023 series swaps those two concepts, and the new models should be thought of more as GMT watches that also offer diver levels of water resistance. Instead of having a 60-minute timing bezel and a secondary 24-hour track printed along the rehaut like the original model, the new trio of Bremont S302 GMT watches have external rotating 24-hour bezels, with their minute tracks printed along their rehauts. Swapping out the diver-style bezel for a 24-hour insert does allow the new S302 GMT watches to more easily navigate between time zones, although the bezels are described as being unidirectional, which seems like a bit of a misstep considering that they now feature 24-hour markings. Additionally, even if the bezels were bidirectional, not having a quick and easy way to track elapsed time will inevitably be seen as a drawback by those who specifically appreciated the original Bremont S302 GMT for first and foremost being a dive watch.

The case design and proportions of the new Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT watches appear to be largely identical to the original model, and they are all crafted from stainless steel and feature the brand’s signature three-piece Trip-Tick case design, along with domed anti-reflective sapphire crystals above their dials, signed screw-down crowns at 3 o’clock, and solid screw-down stainless steel casebacks that are engraved with a plane emblem and help support the model’s 300 meters of water resistance. In terms of their proportions, the new Bremont S302 GMT models measure 40mm in diameter by 13mm thick, with 20mm lugs and an overall lug-to-lug profile of 49mm. Additionally, while all three of the new models feature the same fundamental designs for their dials, hands, bezels, and cases, there are a few key differences between the new trio of Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT watches.

The first of the two new standard-production models from the updated Bremont S302 GMT series features a brushed and polished finish on its stainless steel case, and it is fitted with a dark blue dial and an anodized aluminum bezel insert that has a split-color blue and green finish. Small bright orange highlights appear on the dial and on the triangular tip of the 24-hour hand (a feature that is shared across all three of the new S302 GMT models), and while the Super-LumiNova used on the dial and hands appear white in the daylight, the tip of the GMT hand glows green, while the rest of the hands and hour markers emit a blue-colored glow in the dark. Additionally, this blue and green version of the new Bremont S302 GMT is available with the option of a stainless steel bracelet, a brown vintage-style leather strap, or a blue rubber strap with fitted ends that form an integrated appearance with the case.

The second standard-production model is known as the Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT Jet, and this version features a black DLC-coated case paired with a black dial and a matching all-black bezel. While the split-color bezel insert fitted to the blue and green version is made from anodized aluminum, the single-color bezel insert on the Supermarine S302 GMT Jet is crafted from black ceramic. Although the Super-LumiNova on the dial and hands offer a vintage-inspired beige hue in the daylight, it glows the exact same colors as what can be found on its sibling, with blue-emission used for the hands and indexes, paired with green-glowing lume on the tip of the 24-hour hand. With that in mind, unlike the blue and green model, the Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT Jet isn’t available with a matching DLC-coated bracelet, and it is instead only offered with the choice of either a black rubber or leather strap.

The final model among the new trio of Supermarine S302 GMT watches is the Bremont Supermarine Ocean, which is the limited-edition version that is produced in collaboration with the marine biologist, conservationist, and professional free-diver Ocean Ramsey. Like the blue and green standard-production model, the Supermarine Ocean features brushed and polished stainless steel case components paired with a black DLC-coated middle case barrel; however, its dial, hands, and bezel are far more similar to the style fitted to the S302 GMT Jet, with the key difference being that the dial and bezel are gray rather than black like on the standard-production model. Produced as a limited edition of 400 examples, the Bremont Supermarine Ocean is available with the option of either a stainless steel bracelet, a brown leather strap, or a gray rubber strap, and this new model will be worn by Ocean Ramsey and her partner Juan Oliphant as the two travel the world and raise funds for their conservation efforts.

In addition to all having small bright orange accents on their dials and hands, all three of the new Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT are powered by the same Caliber BE-93-2AV automatic GMT movement, which runs at a frequency of 28,800vph (4 Hz) with a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. As this caliber is a modified version of the popular ETA 2893, it features a caller-style approach for its GMT functionality, with the 24-hour hand and the date display being independently adjustable from the time, rather than allowing the local hour hand to be adjusted either forwards or backwards in one-hour increments. With that in mind, while only the limited-edition Supermarine Ocean has the word “Chronometer” printed on its dial, all of the Cal. BE-93-2AV movements fitted to the new Bremont S302 GMT watches are chronometer rated to ISO 3159 standards.

When it comes to pricing for the new Bremont Supermarine S302 GMT watches, the standard-production blue and green model is the least expensive among the trio with an official retail price of $3,750 USD on a strap, or $4,200 USD should buyers opt for the stainless steel bracelet. Meanwhile, the DLC-coated S302 GMT Jet is positioned as the middle offering with a price of $4,250 USD, while the limited-edition Supermarine Ocean is the most expensive at $4,000 USD for the strap-equipped versions or $4,450 USD if buyers choose the bracelet configuration. Objectively speaking, Bremont produces very well-executed timepieces, although the price floor for mechanical GMT watches has dropped significantly over the past few years, and at this mid-four-figure price point, the new Bremont S302 GMT series is now competing against highly compelling offerings from historic big-name manufacturers.
