Welcome back to an original aBlogtoWatch feature, “My First Grail Watch”. In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after.
aBlogtoWatch (ABTW): Who are you and what is your relationship to the watch industry?
Peter Stas (PS): CEO and co-founder of Frederique Constant, the passionate watch manufacturer from Geneva.
ABTW: What was your first grail watch?
PS: A Bucherer classical Day-Date-24H automatic watch in a yellow gold case with white dial. Beautiful watch from the nineties.
ABTW: Was there ever a time in your life when you could afford it?
PS: I could afford this one because Bucherer was at the time a house brand producing gold-plated cases. Basically, they were executing same strategy as Frederique Constant today: make beautiful classical watches and keep prices under control, offer genuine value.
ABTW: What did you like so much about the watch?
PS: Ultra classical, but of that day, not retro. Its nicely decorated mechanical movt was viewable from the case back. Balance of the design was perfect.
ABTW: Did you ever get it?
PS: Yes, bought it with a substantial part of my savings.
