Montblanc 1858 Watch Collection

Along with the release of the chronograph there will be three more models debuting at SIAR 2015 (Salón Internacional Alta Relojería – Madrid-based watch exhibition): Three three-handed models, with centrally-mounted hour and minute hands, and a sub-dial sporting a running seconds hand. There will be two watches with black dials and green luminant, one with a brown leather strap and one with a steel mesh bracelet, and a black dial with vintage luminant and a black leather strap. The watch with vintage lume will be limited to 858 pieces. Again, the cathedral hands make an appearance, along with the easy-to-grasp crown. WIth these two components marrying with the sub-seconds dial, we can see elements of pocket watch design uniting on the wrist. It’s nice to see a brand unabashedly leaning on its heritage, while still having the presence of mind to make subtle, modernising changes to their designs (the lugs have been widened to allow the use of a 20mm strap – this is far more in line with modern standards and should see the watches gain wider appeal than they would have done on an 18mm or smaller band).
