Having grown up near Toronto and now residing in Vancouver, I was thrilled to hear that Jaeger-LeCoultre would be gracing both of these fine Canadian cities with their own boutiques. These boutiques are Jaeger-LeCoultre’s first in Canada and, for watch fans that frequent either city, the addition is nothing short of exciting, as boutiques generally offer a wider selection and better access to special models than an authorized dealer might be able to provide.
While Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal have access to Jaeger-LeCoultre via authorized dealers, these new brand boutiques boast key locations that should connect well with each city. As Toronto is a mall-heavy city (for you foreigners, it’s a rather large and sprawling city), the Toronto Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique is located in the Yorkdale shopping center alongside many other watch retailers.
For Vancouver, the boutique is situated downtown in the shopping area of the the Burrard corridor, nestled among boutiques from Tiffany & Co, Montblanc, and Omega. Tucked away on Alberni street, Vancouver’s newly-opened Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique seems private, quiet, and unassuming. The inviting decor is decidedly JLC, and the watches on hand are even better.
With ample lighting, room for Jaeger-LeCoultre’s impressive family of watches and even a couple spots to sit and take in a truly special piece (perhaps, a Master Grande Tradition Tourbillon Cylindrique à Quantième Perpétuel?), the boutique is basically exactly what you’d expect from Jaeger-LeCoultre and it beckons passersby to come in and see what’s on offer. While I tooled about taking photos and adding fingerprints to some lovely watches, the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique had a couple of visitors that ranged from hardcore JLC enthusiasts to casual street traffic simply inquiring as to what the boutique sold.
If you’re kicking around downtown Vancouver and want the full JLC brand experience, swing by Alberni and check out the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique to see for yourself. Then, when you’re done, zip across the street to Thierry and sample their excellent french pastries and chocolates – it’s the ideal way to come down from a watch high or celebrate a new addition to the collection. jaeger-lecoultre.com
