American brand Jack Mason is stepping up its game. After pivoting from a wholesale model to a direct-to-consumer approach, the brand has found a footing with its sporting Hydrotimer and Strat-o-timer GMT models. Now established among enthusiasts, Jack Mason is aiming its sights higher, introducing its first Swiss Made timepiece, the Canton. The Jack Mason Canton provides the exceptional design the brand is known for in a luxury watch that can accompany you anywhere.

At a glance, the Jack Mason Canton has a welcoming familiarity, but even a brief examination reveals a design that distinguishes itself. The wide polished bezel gives way to a finely brushed case with a slender polished chamfer tracing its edges. Crafted in 316L stainless steel, the case measures an ideal 39mm and just 10.8mm thick. This slim profile is reaffirmed by the curved silhouette of the lugs, which measure 46mm end-to-end. The well-proportioned screw-down crown features the Jack Mason star logo and facilitates 150m of water resistance. And with a 1,200-vicker hardening coating, the Canton can accompany you no matter where you go.

No detail has been spared, and the crisp finishing on the case continues with the superbly executed 20mm three-link bracelet. With brushed side links and polished center links, the bracelet seamlessly transitions from the watch’s brushed midcase and polished bezel. Once again, a polished chamfer traces the edges, and the bracelet tapers to 16mm and ends in a slim folding clasp. The clasp features a built-in micro-adjustment mechanism for fine-tuning the size on the fly, and the entire bracelet can be easily removed with quick-release tabs, allowing for endless strap combinations.

The Canton’s dial brings charm and character to the sophisticated case. Available in black, silver, green, or sky blue, the cross-hatched pattern of the dial receives a sunray finish, allowing it to capture light to highlight its intricate design. At 12 o’clock, branding is kept at a minimum, with the Texas Lone Star logo applied just below the marker. Opposite the logo is a beveled date window with a color-matched date wheel, ensuring that this useful complication does not mar the symmetry of the dial.

The hands and markers on the Canton are rendered in a balance of polished and brushed finishes, echoing the details of the case and allowing for high legibility in any condition. This superlative legibility is supplemented by Super-LumiNova BGW9 applied evenly across the dial elements, shining brightly in low-light situations. The final accent of the dial is the seconds hand’s counterbalance, a red, white, and blue reminder of the brand’s American and Texas roots.

Beneath the sapphire caseback crystal, Jack Mason has put the Swiss Made automatic La Joux-Perret G100 on full display. Representing a significant move from the brand, the G100 is just the second time Jack Mason has used a Swiss movement (the first being on the dressier Ellum). The G100 offers proven architecture with exceptional specs, including a 68-hour power reserve at 28,800 vph and an accuracy of -/+7 seconds per day. Jack Mason has opted for the top grade soignée finishing, which brings blued screws and Côtes de Genève, and the movement is completed by a tungsten rotor with gold printing, including the final instance of the Jack Mason logo.

The Jack Mason Canton isn’t just a step in an elevated direction for the brand. It’s a mark of continued evolution. From the brand’s early days selling large, quartz-powered watches to department stores, Jack Mason has transformed into a serious watchmaker with standout designs that cover all the horological bases: diver, GMT, dress watch. The Canton adds a new level of Swiss Made luxury to its catalog with the brand’s most versatile watch yet. The Jack Mason Canton is priced at $1,499 USD and is available directly from the brand.
