Founded by Peter A. Ineichen in 1973, Ineichen Auctioneers has remained a premier timepiece auction house thanks to the company’s forward-looking vision and willingness to evolve to meet the needs of modern buyers. A combination of watch expertise, transparency, and commitment to authentic customer relationships has paved the way for Ineichen Auctioneers to become a leading trusted name in the watch world. Plus, doing away with the buyer’s premium, developing a cutting-edge in-house bidding system, and launching a new platform for private watch sales have all proved to be exceedingly popular with clients.
2023 marks the 50th anniversary of Ineichen Auctioneers, and the celebratory year has already been a momentous one for the Swiss auction house. Not only did the auction house open a space in the heart of Zürich to welcome watch enthusiasts, connoisseurs, and collectors, but it also hosted a range of highly successful thematic auctions. For instance, there was the Art of Breguet auction with 18 carefully selected Breguet timepieces, as well as the Konstantin Chaykin auction with nine watches, one table clock, seven sketches, and a Joker table. Furthermore, the Independents 2023 auction was a fantastic success with total sales reaching over CHF 3.6 million, illustrating the growing market for independent watchmakers and creative modern watches.
Now, as the end of the year approaches, Ineichen Auctioneers has organized two more auctions to close out the celebrations. The first is the Ineichen’s 50th Anniversary auction, which will offer an excellent selection of classic and historical pieces. Some highlights of the event include incredible complications such as a Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Gyrotourbillon (Proto 0), a Patek Philippe Grand Complication 5370P Splits Seconds Chronograph, and a Cartier Tortue Monopoussoir. There are also a great deal of fan-favorite vintage icons headed to the auction block, such as a Vacheron Constantin 222, an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak “Jumbo” 5402, a Patek Philippe Nautilus 3800, and a rare Longines pilot’s watch made for Swissair.
During the live one-day auction, audiences will witness the launch of the second event: the Independents 2023 Part 2: Christmas Edition online auction. Like the auction earlier this year, this second installment promises an exceptional selection of the best pieces the world of independent watchmaking has to offer. Some highlights include an F.P. Journe Calendrier Black Label, a Gerald Genta Perpetual Calendar, and a platinum Voutilainen with a checkered dial. Of course, there will be many creations by the likes of MB&F, Urwerk, De Bethune, H. Moser & Cie, and other leading independents.
With 50 years of history and four world records to its name, Ineichen Auctioneers has plenty to celebrate — and welcomes fellow watch enthusiasts to discover everything it has to offer. The Ineichen’s 50th Anniversary live auction will take place on December 9, 2023, while the Independents 2023 Part 2: Christmas Edition online auction will take place from December 9 to 22, 2023.
