A date window sits at 4:30, nestled between polished applied hour indices that run along the edge of the 60-second marker chapter ring. Legibility is exceptionally high, thanks to the neatly polished dauphine handset that rounds out the dial design and sits inside a comfortably proportioned 42mm stainless steel case with sharply angled lugs that conform easily to the wrist. A tachymeter bezel sits atop the case, and on the side is a signed Hamilton crown, as well as what one might easily mistake for crown guards. But closer inspection reveals a pair of elliptic chronograph pushers, an understated detail that gives the watch a splash of Jazzmaster Performer personality.
Inside the watch is Hamilton’s H-31 automatic chronograph movement with an anti-magnetic Nivachron™ balance spring. Operating at 28,800 bph (4Hz), the movement features hacking seconds and is fully visible through the exhibition caseback. Thanks to the 60-hour power reserve, the watch is ready-made for a weekend of adventures, while the design is sophisticated enough for a dressier night out on the town.
With a case thickness of 15.22mm, the Hamilton Jazzmaster Performer Automatic Chronograph cuts a bold profile, but not at the expense of wearability, as the overall case construction of the watch provides for a very balanced experience on the wrist. The matching blue perforated leather strap with a signed folding clasp is another subtle nod to the watch’s sporty aspirations, and much like the rest of its design elements, it is executed with tasteful restraint.
