Originally introduced last year in 2022, the TITONI Seascoper 300 is the Swiss brand’s lineup of chronometer-certified dive watches that distills down the core blueprint of its highly purpose-built Seascoper 600 series to create a robust and capable diver that can more easily integrate into everyday life. While the inaugural Seascoper 300 series made its debut appearance exclusively in stainless steel and with the option of either black, blue, or green dials and bezels, TITONI has expanded the collection as its latest new release for 2023 with two limited edition Seascoper 300 models that feature black DLC-finished cases.

In terms of their underlying design and functionality, the pair of limited edition TITONI Seascoper 300 watches are essentially new colorways and configurations of the original Seascoper 300 model that debuted last year. While the duo of new watches are still crafted from stainless steel, they have been given entirely brushed cases (rather than having high-polished sides), and they also feature a dark black DLC finish over the entirety of their metallic components. The first of the two models (ref. 83300 B-BK-R-716) is the Seascoper 300 Black Edition, which is fitted with a matching gloss black dial and produced as a limited edition of 500 pieces (product images in the gallery below). Meanwhile the other version featured here (ref. 83300 B-BK-R-715) is known as the Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition, and it receives a bright orange dial and will be produced as a limited edition of only 100 examples.

Just like the standard-production models, the new TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition measures 42mm in diameter by 12.55mm-thick, with 20mm lugs and an overall lug-to-lug profile of 52mm. While it has the same outer diameter as its more capable Seascoper 600 sibling, omitting the helium escape valve allows the Seascoper 300 to be noticeably thinner, and the dark black DLC coating on the case of this new limited edition model further helps to minimize its visual presence. As a point of reference, the TITONI Seascoper 300 is slightly larger than the full-size Tudor Black Bay diver in terms of its diameter and lug-to-lug measurement, but its case profile is quite a bit thinner, and this results in the Seascoper 300 actually feeling slightly smaller than the 41mm Black Bay once you have it on the wrist.

Similar to the standard-production TITONI Seascoper 300 models with brushed and polished stainless steel cases, the top side of the new Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is fitted with a flat sapphire crystal that has anti-reflective treatment on both its inner and outer surface, while surrounding this is a 60-click unidirectional rotating timing bezel that is fitted with a gloss black ceramic insert. A screw-down winding crown and caseback help guarantee a more-than-adequate 300 meters of water resistance, and while the black DLC-coated caseback still features a porthole engraving in relief, the center “window” section is no longer mirror-polished, and instead features engraved text to denote that this model is a limited edition of 100 examples.

When it comes to the dial and hands fitted to the new DLC-coated limited edition TITONI Seascoper 300 watches, the overall style and layout are identical to what can be found on the standard-production models. For the 100-piece Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition ref. 83300 B-BK-R-715, the bright orange dial is a punchy and vivid shade with a date window at 3 o’clock and applied hour markers that have matte black-finished surrounds. The finishing on the hands is also matte black for maximum contrast, although the luminous material on both the hands and hour markers is a crisp white color in the daylight but emits a bright aqua-blue glow in the dark. To match the hour markers, the date window is outlined in black and reveals a white calendar disc, while the gloss black ceramic bezel insert opts for somewhat of a tone-on-tone appearance with gray markings for its engraved 60-minute scale and a small luminous dot within the inverted triangle at the zero marker.

Powering the new TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is the same chronometer-certified Sellita SW200-1 automatic movement that can be found inside the standard-production models from the collection. Running at a frequency of 28,800vph (4 Hz) with a power reserve of approximately 38 hours, the SW200-1 is very much a known quantity, although the version fitted to the TITONI Seascoper 300 is the Chronometer Grade variety, which is the most premium level of this movement that Sellita produces. In addition to featuring a number of upgraded components, this version of the SW200-1 is a COSC-certified chronometer, and it is therefore guaranteed to run within the stringent standards of -4/+6 seconds per day. When movements get officially certified as chronometers, they receive unique COSC identification numbers, and TITONI’s Seascoper 300 watches each have their COSC numbers engraved along the rim of their casebacks.

Fitted to the lugs of the TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition is a black rubber strap that tapers from 20mm at the case down to 18mm where it connects to a black DLC-coated stainless steel deployant clasp. Operated by a double push-button release, the signed folding clasp mounts to one side of the strap with a clamp-style connector, rather than having sizing holes in the rubber material itself. In addition to offering a completely smooth appearance, this design also allows the length of the strap to be adjusted freely, without needing to be increased or decreased by set increments like a traditional two-piece strap. Furthermore, the ends of the strap are molded to the shape of the lugs, and their sharp downward curvature helps to mitigate the relatively sizable lug-to-lug profile of the watch.

In addition to being fitted with a black rubber strap, both the new TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition and its all-black sibling are packaged as a set with a secondary striped two-piece fabric strap that is made from ocean-bound plastic and fitted with chunky black-finished stainless steel hardware. While the fabric strap features integrated quick-release springbars, the black rubber strap does not, and this small addition to the rubber strap would have allowed the two included options to easily be swapped back and forth without the use of any tools. Additionally, while the fabric strap is slightly stiff right out of the box, this is simply due to the thickness of its material, and it quickly softens up and conforms to the shape of your wrist after a little bit of wear and use. Since the Seascoper 300 series uses standard 20mm lugs, a virtually endless list of third-party options will also be compatible, although the two provided straps will likely satisfy most owners, and it’s nice that TITONI includes both options with these new limited edition models.

Due to its black DLC-finished case components and its being packaged as a set with both rubber and fabric straps, the new 100-piece TITONI Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition costs slightly more than its standard-production siblings, and it is accompanied by an official retail price of $1,850 USD. With that in mind, the actual price premium is less than a couple hundred dollars compared to the core-collection models, and the same pricing applies to the Seascoper 300 Color Block Edition’s 500-piece sibling that is fitted with a gloss black dial. Additionally, while these new limited edition models are technically the most expensive versions of the Seascoper 300 that are currently available, the vast majority of their modest price premium is due to the fact that they include both strap options. If you were to purchase one of the standard-production Seascoper 300 models with both rubber and fabric straps, the actual price premium for one of these new DLC-coated limited edition models would be less than fifty bucks. While the TITONI Seascoper 300 collection itself is a more refined and less dive-centric version of the brand’s signature underwater timepiece, these new limited edition models with black DLC-finished cases take the brand’s versatile sports watch series and give it a noticeably more utilitarian aesthetic.
