The original TITONI Impetus is the independent Swiss brand’s integrated bracelet sports watch that is intended to be an all-rounder designed for everyday life. While a metal bracelet and moderate water resistance guarantee that the model can stand up to sweat and moisture contact, the overall design of the classic TITONI Impetus is fairly traditional and refined, and it is even a bit dressier than what you get from many other options within this space. However, new for 2023 is the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02, which joins the catalog as the larger and sportier sibling model that features ceramic case components, six times the water resistance, and it comes as a set with both a metal bracelet and an interchangeable rubber strap.

If the classic Impetus is TITONI’s version of a traditional stainless steel integrated bracelet watch such as the Royal Oak, then the new Impetus CeramTech Zr02 could be seen as its equivalent of the Offshore. In addition to being larger and sportier, the Impetus Zr02 is also inherently more modern in both its design and construction and the model places an emphasis on bold aesthetics and the use of contemporary case materials. With that in mind, the new TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 represents a significant aesthetic departure compared to the brand’s classic Impetus model, and while both watches feature non-traditional lugs to create their signature integrated bracelet appearance, the new Impetus Zr02 is ultimately a very different timepiece with its own unique concept and design language.

At the time of launch, TITONI offers the new Impetus CeramTech Zr02 in six different colorways. Four of the six variations showcase the natural finish of their brushed and polished stainless steel components, while the other two versions have been given a black DLC coating. Among the four steel models, two are dark blue and white, a third is light blue and white with a black chapter ring, and the final steel model embraces an all-white color profile. Meanwhile, the first of the two DLC-finished versions is entirely black and white, while the other (featured here) is easily the most colorful among the collection, and it pairs light blue components with bright yellow accents and sets them against a jet black DLC-coated case. While this vibrant rendition is my personal favorite, other models offer significantly more pared-back appearances, and I could easily see someone wearing one of the more traditional models as their everyday timekeeping companion.

Regardless of their colors or surface finishing, all of the different TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 models are otherwise identical when it comes to their physical construction and external dimensions. The middle case of the watch measures 42.5mm in diameter, although the twelve-sided bezel fitted to the top slightly sticks out around the edges to bring its actual horizontal width up to 43mm. The lug-to-lug profile of the TITONI Impetus Zr02 comes in at 50mm, while the total height of the watch measures 11.9mm thick, and this includes the flat sapphire crystal (with anti-reflective treatment on both surfaces) that slightly sticks up above the rim of the bezel. Although the Impetus Zr02 is hardly a small watch, its compact lugs help to mitigate its perceived size, and I personally find that it wears slightly smaller than the TITONI Seascoper 300, despite having a case diameter that is actually a millimeter larger.

As for the construction of the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02, the case itself is largely made from stainless steel, and on the version featured here (ref. 83765 B-AO-707), everything that appears in black is crafted from stainless steel with a DLC finish. The steel middle case extends on the 3 o’clock side to create a small set of angular crown guards, and stainless steel is also used for both the fixed twelve-sided bezel and the screw-down display caseback. However, a grooved ring made from light blue ceramic is fitted around the sides of the case, and this gives the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 ref. 83765 B-AO-707 a unique two-tone aesthetic with its black DLC-coated lugs, bezel, and crown guards sticking out from a light blue ceramic central section. Additionally, as the sides of the middle case are covered in a blue ceramic shroud, these colorful sections are virtually impervious to scratches, and they also won’t fade or discolor after prolonged wear and exposure to the elements.

The prominent yellow markings on the bezel provide an expectation that the component might rotate, although the twelve-sided bezel is actually fixed to the case, with its numerals essentially serving as an extra-large secondary minute track. Had there been no markings on the bezel, the watch would have seemed somewhat incomplete, although part of me does wish that the bezel would either rotate or have some other type of markings that don’t suggest the possibility of rotation. The winding crown of the TITONI Impetus Zr02 follows a similar design as the case, and on the reference 83765 B-AO-707 featured here, it is crafted from black DLC-coated stainless steel and fitted with a light blue ceramic inlay that is engraved with TITONI’s “meihua” (plum blossom) flower logo. Additionally, to match the markings on the bezel, the crown is finished with a bright yellow accent ring, and it screws down to the middle case in order to help create a rather generous 300 meters of water resistance.

The light blue dial of the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 ref. 83765 B-AO-707 features a vertical line motif embossed into its surface, and it is furnished with applied luminous markers and a date window at 3 o’clock. Surrounding the dial is a bright yellow angled chapter ring that contains a minute track printed in black, while the faceted baton hour markers are finished dark gray with white luminous stripes running down their centers. The hands embrace a similar colorway to the dial with a dark gray finish, white lume, and bright yellow accents for increased visibility. None of the elements are polished, and in order to maintain the entirely non-metallic appearance of the display, even the small TITONI logo at 12 o’clock is finished with the same deep shade of gray that is used for the hands and hour markers. Furthermore, while all of the Super-LumiNova used for the dial and hands appear a crisp white color in the daylight, it emits a bright aqua-blue glow in the dark.

Powering the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 collection is the ETA 2892-A2 automatic movement, which is the same caliber that you will find inside the brand’s classic Impetus models. Running at a frequency of 28,800vph (4 Hz) with a power reserve of approximately 42 hours, the ETA 2892 is a newer and thinner platform compared to the ultra-ubiquitous ETA 2824, and while real-world performance is relatively similar between these two popular movements, the ETA 2892 enables the TITONI Impetus Zr02 to be about a millimeter thinner, and it is typically considered to be the more premium caliber platform between these two ETA designs. While the version of the ETA 2892-A2 fitted to the Impetus Zr02 isn’t a COSC-certified chronometer like some of the other movements used by the brand, it is fitted with a custom gold-plated rotor that has the TITONI name cut into its structure.

While the classic Impetus is TITONI’s integrated bracelet sports watch, the Impetus CeramTech Zr02 is fitted with a rubber strap as its primary configuration, and it simply includes a stainless steel bracelet as an alternate secondary option. Additionally, the term “integrated” applies to the aesthetic rather than the construction in this particular instance, and both the strap and bracelet connect to the case with quick-release spring bars so that owners can easily swap them out and take full advantage of the two supplied options. While the straps and bracelets connect to the lugs inside a gap that measures 12.5mm, they flare out to 25mm in order to form an integrated appearance with the sides of the case before quickly tapering back down to 20mm where they meet their clasps and buckles.

The strap for the TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 ref. 83765 B-AO-707 is made from light blue rubber to match the dial and ceramic case ring, and it is completed by a chunky tang-style buckle with a black DLC finish. Meanwhile, the stainless steel bracelet features a flat three-link construction, and it has also been given a black DLC finish to match the lugs, bezel, and crown guards. The links are completely solid and the clasp features machined components with a double push-button release, although the removable links use a pin and collar setup (rather than single-sided screws), and sizing the bracelet can therefore be a little bit more of an involved process. The clasp features an integrated extension system that is activated by pressing two buttons on the side, and this permits approximately one full link’s worth of expansion or contraction spread across three positions of incremental adjustment.

Many integrated bracelet watches feature somewhat nostalgia-driven designs, so it’s always encouraging to see brands take the “integrated” concept and use it to create something definitively modern. As with all TITONI watches, the Impetus CeramTech Zr02 is very well-executed from a construction and finishing standpoint, and while I personally love the colorful appearance of the ref. 83765 B-AO-707 featured here, other models have a much more traditional aesthetic while still offering the same bold design and colored ceramic case components. With an official retail price of $2,970 USD for any of the stainless steel models or $3,140 USD for either of the black DLC versions, the new TITONI Impetus CeramTech Zr02 ranks among the brand’s most expensive models, although it also represents something truly unique within TITONI’s modern catalog, and I personally find this colorful rendition of the Impetus Zr02 to be an immense amount of fun to have on the wrist.
