Then again, should you need to tweak it a bit, it is just velcro, so you basically have infinite adjustability. One thing I played around with a bit on the GasGasBones Zero Zero was which way to orient it on the watch. At first, I had it in the expected way, with the loose end closer to the bottom of the case. I decided to flip it around, and that made for a much better look. That way, the customized buckle was easily within sight, and the loose end was away from my body, so it was not getting caught on my clothes as I walked. You, of course, could fit it how you want, but that’s what worked for me.

The question is, why would you want a heavier nylon strap like the GasGasBones Zero Zero? Well, for one, it’s plain durable. Whatever you are doing, this should hold up well, stitching and all. Yeah, the NATO-style ones are decently robust, but sometimes they just look too thin against some watch cases, and that’s where a strap like this one comes in. The addition of velcro to the mix also gives things an easy-on, easy-off nature that some may be on the lookout for. And, with the pre-bent strap, it’s just as quick to put on as any strap with a deployant on it.

At a price of around $45 (depending on currency conversions), the GasGasBones Zero Zero is not your inexpensive nylon strap (there are cheaper and more expensive options in the lineup). In the wider world of customized straps, though, this is quite a bargain. Sure, the weather is cooling off now (at least in the northern hemisphere) so we’re swapping out our nylon for leather, but there is a place for a heavy-duty strap like the GasGasBones Zero Zero. I’ll admit, the velcro may not be for everyone, but I like that it gives a change of pace, with a different closure (of sorts) that does not add much bulk. And frankly, you cannot beat the customization that is available on those buckles. Evans has come a long way with his manufacturing since I first came across his brand, and I, for one, cannot wait to see what comes out of his workshop next. gasgasbones.com
