Ganymede Watches is excited to introduce its first watch on Kickstarter, the Series 01, this May. The inspiration for this watch comes from a variety of influences, ranging from the digital watches of the 1980s (made famous by Seiko and Casio) to different cutting-edge technologies from across the last century, specifically steam engines, vintage submarines, and spacecraft. The Ganymede Series 01 pays homage to the human spirit that made these sequential technological advancements possible by combining these influences into a timepiece that shows a vision of the future as it was envisioned in the past.
The Series 01 features a 316L stainless steel case with 100 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, and a unique case design and dial. Powered by Seiko’s NH35A mechanical movement with hacking (second hand stops when you adjust the time), the Series 01 has 41 hours of power reserve and an accuracy of +40/-20 seconds per day. The dial is covered by domed sapphire glass and the case has a sapphire glass see-through caseback.
Four bracelet options are available: distressed brown premium leather, canvas, black rubber, and distressed white premium leather, all with a 316L stainless steel deployment clasp for convenience. The case is sandblasted with a polished lip around the window and a vertically brushed case back. The case comes in four color options: bronze PVD, stainless steel, black PVD, and rose gold PVD (only the rose gold and the bronze versions will be available as part of the Kickstarter campaign).
The watch shows time in a unique way with a special hour hand that has 4 different lengths. To read the time, the corresponding colored hand is matched to the ring with the same colored numbers. The image following shows how to read the time for various positions of the hand.
