It gives us enormous pleasure to present Direnzo’s first watch collection, a stylish timepiece born from a passion for modern design, tradition, and motor racing. Based in Geneva Switzerland, Direnzo watches was founded in 2015 by architect and watch designer Sergio Godoy Di Renzo. The company’s vision: to produce a range of unique and elegant watches inspired by the timeless aesthetics of mid-20th century race cars and aircraft. Hand assembled in Switzerland, each Direnzo DRZ_Type 250F will form part of a limited series of 600 units. Each watch will be a unique, numbered piece.
The exquisite design of this timepiece draws inspiration from the magnificent race cars of the ’40s and ’50s, particularly the Maserati Type 250F, driven by Juan Manuel Fangio in his world famous victory at the 1957 Formula 1 Grand Prix race in Nürburgring. Our goal was to create a timeless but contemporary wristwatch, which, while both elegant and subtle, transmits a sense of excitement and speed; homage to an era of pioneers and mold-breaking engineering. Timeless and sophisticated in design, this timepiece is a reliable, precision instrument for everyday use. The DRZ_Type 250F is a dress watch with a sporting soul.
The design of the DRZ_Type_250F exudes passion and attention to detail. The dial finds inspiration in the tachometer of the Type 250F, and in place of the number “12,” the dial displays “00” lending it a sporting touch reminiscent of an old stopwatch. The calendar has been deliberately removed thus generating a meticulous design uncluttered by external elements that may upset the symmetry.
Inspired by the dashboard gauges of old race cars, the polished 316L stainless steel case measures 40mm in diameter (without the crown) and the height of the watch is visually reduced thanks to its dual-cylinder design (a floating bezel that rests on the main body).
The case back houses the robust Japanese Seiko NH35 automatic movement with hacking function. The case back is screwed down to ensure maximum water tightness. We have used a top quality, natural leather strap. As an added detail, traditional hand-sewn stitches are reminiscent of the old-fashioned straps from the ’50s, affording the watch an aesthetic that is both vintage and sporty. The wristband conceals a quick release spring bar.
Inspired in the old-fashioned tool rolls used on the race courses in the ’50s, the passport wallet is made from natural distressed dark brown leather of the same quality as the strap and made to fit using black elastic.
