The case is rendered in polished titanium and measures 43mm wide at the case edge and 45mm wide at the bezel. While certainly a large watch, the open and spring-loaded lug design makes for a comfortable and visually lightweight wrist presence (speaking from specific experience with other DB28 models). Furthermore, the wrist feel is no doubt helped by the use of a lightweight case material and skeletonized lug structure.
Easily seen via the display case back, the DB28 Digitale features De Bethune’s DB2144 calibre. With twin barrels, 32 jewels and a specialized shock absorbing system, this five day hand-wound movement is as beautiful as it is capable. With full finishing including Cotes de Geneve, the DB2144 features the triangular bridge design that we have come to expect from De Bethune and the movement incorporates a silicon escape wheel and a silicon and white gold balance wheel.
While not De Bethune’s only release at SIHH (we will have more on the wild Dream Watch 5 soon), the DB28 Digitale is an example of how you really can’t predict what is next from an innovative and exciting brand like De Bethune. I’ve been a longtime fan of the DB28 series and the Digitale is cool, distinctive and downright gorgeous. If you want to see more of the DB28 Digitale, stay tuned to ABTW as we will be updating this post with live photos and official pricing as soon as possible. debethune.ch
