We’ve written before about the trend towards smaller watches, and today’s datum is the Christopher Ward W61 Trident Pro. Based on customer requests, CW took their C60 Trident (42mm) and made a version at 38mm.
Available in blue, black and orange, the W61 is really designed for both women and smaller-wristed men. Not that that’s good ad copy, so most brands call it “mid-sized.” 38mm wide, 45.2 lug to lug, 12.1mm thick, and 87g including the strap.

Brushed finish on the side, polished on top, signed crown with squared-off crown guards, aluminum bezel insert, beveled 4.0mm sapphire crystal with inner anti-reflective coating.
Depending on lighting and angle, the wave pattern on the dial can range from obvious to invisible. I like that. The red-tipped seconds hand has a very cool trident counterpoise. I’m less fond of the partially-skeletonized hour and minute hand, since they’re less legible that way, but overall it’s still easy to read the time – day or night.
Quite good, easily legible.
