The C63 Sealander collection, unveiled in May 2022, is Christopher Ward’s take on a do-anything, go-anywhere watch. In its marketing materials, Christopher Ward calls it a watch that “can go from beach to office to soiree.” Now, there’s a new limited-edition version that is smaller and comes in four bright colors. This is the new C63 Sealander Automatic 36mm Limited Edition.

First, let’s review a little. The C63 Sealander collection actually consists of three watches. There’s the C63 Sealander Automatic, the C63 Sealander GMT, and the C63 Sealander Elite. The Elite comes in a titanium case and is chronometer-certified by the COSC. The GMT, as its name suggests, features a GMT complication. The Automatic is the entry-level model of the collection, and it comes in a 39mm stainless steel case. It also features a fairly standard Sellita SW200-1 movement.

Essentially, the watches that Christopher Ward is debuting today are smaller and more colorful versions of the entry-level C63 Sealander Automatic. They feature 36mm-wide stainless steel cases that have been fashioned in the “light-catcher” style, which is designed to capture and reflect light. Despite the more compact size, water resistance remains unchanged at 150 meters. This is a crucial specification, as you can confidently take this watch swimming and even diving.

The four dial colors that customers can choose from are Lucerne Blue, Jura Green, New Forest Yellow, and Acer Red. The dials are polished lacquer. It’s hard to make a judgment on colors without seeing the watches in the flesh, but based on press photos, they do look very vibrant. The watches will also come with a free color-matched leather strap. If I had to pick, I think Jura Green could be very nice.

The dial elements and layout are mostly identical. That’s not a bad thing because the C63 Sealander Automatic is highly legible and has a clean aesthetic. There are prominent baton-style hour markers, a date window at 6 o’clock, and Christopher Ward’s new stylized twin flag logo at 12 o’clock.

Powering these new watches is the trusty Sellita SW200-1 movement. This self-winding movement beats at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 38 hours. The movement is visible through a sapphire display caseback. Though there isn’t much in the way of decoration to admire, the movement does at least have a custom rotor.

When Christopher Ward first unveiled the C63 Sealander Automatic, even though it was already a fairly modest 39mm in size, there were calls for a 36mm version. Christopher Ward has definitely heard these fans. Certainly, many would prefer this to be a regular production model and perhaps in more stoic colors.

And amazingly, Christopher Ward has also thought of that. So in addition to these four limited-edition colors, the brand is also introducing more stoic black and white versions. Prices of the C63 Sealander Automatic 36mm Limited Edition will start at $765 USD, while prices of the black and white versions of the C63 Sealander Automatic 36mm will start at $925 USD.
