British direct-to-consumer brand Christopher Ward is undoubtedly best known for their C60 series of diver’s watches. By combining upscale features like ceramic bezels with Swiss movements at a more reasonable price than many large brands, they have developed a following among watch enthusiasts. Now, the brand has announced the release of yet another addition to their C60 Trident collection. The new Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 Patinated is a marine-grade bronze cased, 600m water-resistant, Swiss automatic-powered, 43mm diver’s watch.
Similar in all aspects to the preexisting C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600, the new model differentiates itself only in that the brand have selected a number of pieces and allowed them to begin their patina process by removing them from a “protective atmosphere.” Other features of the C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600, such as the 43mm wide by 51.5mm long by 13.3mm thick, CuSn6 marine-grade bronze case and bezel, marine blue dial with “Old Radium” Super-LumiNova hands and indices, 316L stainless steel caseback, and flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal remain the same as on the standard model.
Also in keeping with the regular model and indeed the rest of the C60 collection is the use of the Swiss Sellita SW200, a 26 jewel, 38-hour reserve, time and date movement, which oscillates at a familiar 28,800vph. Nearly identical to the popular ETA 2824-2, the SW200 is a robust and reliable inclusion for a purpose driven watch like the C60 diver.
While little more than a special edition of the regular bronze C60 Trident Pro, the Patinated edition is sure to please the growing throngs of bronze hungry watch collectors who have driven demand for bronze-cased watches even among bigger brands like Tudor, Panerai, and Oris. The Patinated C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 is also indicative of Christopher Ward’s model of identifying higher tier industry trends and working them into their more modestly priced collections. The Christopher Ward C60 Trident Bronze Pro 600 Patinated will come as standard on a 22mm vintage oak leather strap with a matching bronze buckle and is available for pre-order for $910. christopherward.com
