It’s always refreshing to see when a watch manufacturer takes its women’s collections as seriously as its men’s watches. The Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Chronodate Watch is a perfect example of this. Carl F. Bucherer has been making quality timepieces for over a century. The company has taken great strides in its manufacturing processes, including the adoption of peripheral rotors in some of the brand’s pieces. Bringing these developments together with some real aesthetic treats is the Patravi Chronodate. This 40mm women’s watch is available in three dial options. Customers can choose from a rose, pale blue, or white mother of pearl dial, which is surrounded by 56 diamonds. Carl F. Bucherer has opted to use the CFB 1956 automatic movement with 42 hours of power reserve, visible through the sapphire case back.

Analysis
The Carl F. Bucherer Patravia Chronodate is an excellent addition to the Patravi line and a welcome update to its women’s collection (joining the sportier Patravi SubaTec). As with the ScubaTec, the movement inside is serious and the design of the watch is classic. The big date complication is one of my personal favorites. By subtly curving the date window, which sits just south of the 12 o’clock marker, the Carl F. Bucherer design team has integrated what can be a stark and dominating complication with sympathy and restraint. The resulting visual balance is superb.
Conclusion
Carl F. Bucherer states, “Soft on the outside doesn’t always mean soft on the inside,” and while I get where the brand is coming from, I’m not sure I agree that these watches are all that “soft on the outside.” The Chronodate models in both the men’s and women’s ranges are packing some serious credentials, both in their design and their functionality. Yes, these models use pastel colorways and diamond detailing, but they are tough, robust watches that give off a sense a surety, more than they do demure softness. The Carl F. Bucherer Patravi Chronodate watch is available in three different dial colors and on four different strap options including a steel bracelet. Price is $9,400.
