An ongoing topic of conversation in the watch industry is value. Offering more value for money seems to be high on many watch brands’ minds and perhaps none more so than TAG Heuer. With Jean-Claude Biver at the helm now, TAG Heuer is doubling down on its efforts to create more affordable watches that will appeal to a younger audience. However, that doesn’t mean that TAG Heuer has become boring, because one of the most exciting watch at Baselworld was their Carrera Heuer-02T Tourbillon Chrongraph watch. Boasting a tourbillion and chronograph, this watch will retail at a very attractive and relatively attainable price, making it irresistible for many collectors. We’ll begin this round-up by taking a closer look at this alluring watch.

Speaking of value, we also investigate watches outside of Switzerland. You see, the Swiss have long maintained their superiority in horology. But is that really the case? Well, the science and art of watchmaking isn’t solely the domain of the Swiss. In fact, the history of watchmaking counts the English and French as being important contributors too. So in this round-up, we take a look at some other brands outside of Switzerland that are worth checking out as well. Some examples include Habring², Seiko, Mühle Glashütte, and more.

2. Oris Divers Sixty-Five 42mm Watch Hands-On

Vintage-inspired dive watches are hot right now, and Oris knows it. Just last year, Oris made waves in the dive watch community when it released the very handsome Oris Divers Sixty-Five. 4. Timepiece Culture In The Making As Tony Stark (Iron Man) Wears Smartwatch & Traditional Watch In ‘Captain America: Civil War’ Movie

How many of you pay attention to what watches stars wear in movies? I’m guessing a lot of you. One of the biggest franchises in recent history is Iron Man, who is played to perfection by Robert Downey Jr. Being a billionaire businessman, it is only natural that Robert Downey Jr. gets to wear a number of expensive watches in the Marvel movies. But in the latest Marvel movie, he also dons a special watch that turns into a special glove that lets him go toe to toe with the Winter Soldier. We haven’t seen this before, and it will be intriguing to see what this means for future Marvel and Iron Man movies. Will Stark be ditching traditional watches now? Or will they still have a place on the wrist of the self-proclaimed genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist?

6. Ulysse Nardin Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar Watch Hands-On

For 2016, Ulysse Nardin is updating its Marine collection with the new Marine Chronograph Annual Calendar watch, which combines two very useful and practical complications. Enabling this is the brand’s new in-house UN-153 movement which is an improvement over the original UN-150 chronograph movement debuted in the Marine Chronograph Manufacture watch from 2013. Despite the addition of the annual calendar complication, this new watch remains highly legible thanks to the logical display of all information on the various sub-dials. Particularly pleasing to us is the sensible location of the date window at 6 o’clock. If you are looking for a complicated watch with somewhat quirky looks, then this watch is not to be missed.
