This week on aBlogtoWatch Weekly, Ariel is happy that Rick is back because he feels like an imposter when he hosts the show. David is just ok, and Ripley, a man never known to be miserable, is smiling through his tears — it’s a global mood thing you understand. California has been on fire since 2025 reared its ugly head, but hey, we always have science fiction to make us feel better. In more relevant news, LVMH Watch Week has happened on the way to Watches & Wonders — did anyone notice? The guys muse about the new Tiffany & Co. trends before moving on to debate the merits of the Zenith Chronomaster Sport Rainbow. Ripley finally lights up when talk turns to the new Hublot Big Bang Tourbillon Automatic Green SAXEM watch. Ariel has mixed feelings about it; he sees it as a blast from the past when bigger, more macho cases were the thing. We’ve seen a lot from TAG Heuer lately, and next on the docket is the Next-Gen Formula 1 Chronograph line, another retro and rather sober watch, according to Ariel. David walks us through his latest Grinding Gears article, which argues that watches should be configured like cars. Of course, the question of tariffs comes up again, and everyone in watch world is waiting and wondering how brands, consumers, and collectors will be affected. Next up, talk turns to Dubai Watch Week, and Ariel thinks the organizers are a bit tone-deaf: “Oh, you all have a dictator now, too! We have more in common than ever.” More fun than all this fear and loathing is the new ABTW column, The Flyback, in which Mike looks at Lunar New Year watches. As per usual, we close with a few rounds of Hit, Miss Maybe.
