Jaquet Droz Launches New Midsize Grande Seconde Quantième With Seven New 41 mm Variants

The Grande Seconde style is something of a hallmark for Jaquet Droz, and this week the brand announced it will further expand this signature line with seven new models in the Grande Seconde Quantième range, sized at 41 mm. These new 41 mm variants are available in a variety of different case materials, with four models cased in rose gold while the remaining three are finished in stainless steel. The case design itself maintains the rounded, classical dress form found in the core line, but has been slimmed down significantly to 12.1 mm thick along with the smaller diameter for a more elegant profile. The dials of these seven new models all follow the traditional Grande Seconde Quantième aesthetic, with a small off center subdial at 12 o’clock for hours and minutes paired with a larger 6 o’clock subdial with a pointer date nested inside running seconds. All four rose gold models receive refined Grand Feu enamel dials with rose gold hands and accents, with available dial colors including white, black, midnight blue, and a handsome burgundy tone. The steel cased versions offer a bit more variety, with a matte black variant with silver accents, a sandblasted silver dial with black hands and markers, and a marine-inspired sandblasted gray offering with vibrant blued hands and indices. All seven versions of the new 41 mm Jaquet Droz Grande Seconde Quantième are powered by the in-house 2660Q2 automatic movement, featuring a silicon balance spring and a sizable 68 hour power reserve. Jaquet Droz pairs the four rose gold models with a hand made alligator leather strap matching the dial color, while stainless steel models are mounted on minimalist calfskin leather. Christophe Claret Adds Redesigned Blue Dial To Poker Gambling Watch

First debuting in 2014, Christophe Claret‘s ultra luxury Poker watch took a unique step in the history of watchmaking complications by becoming the first mechanical wristwatch capable of creating a complete 52 card game of Texas Hold’em poker for three players. Now for 2020, the brand has revisited the concept for a new limited edition, featuring a heavily revised blue PVD titanium dial depicting a full casino card table. The 45 mm black PVD coated titanium case follows the form of the 2014 original, with a beefy, modern look and distinctive notched bezel. While the ruby edged black PVD titanium sword hands of the original also return, nearly everything else about the dial of the Christophe Claret Poker has been reworked for this new iteration. The new stepped PVD blue titanium dial surface now features an assortment of branded poker chips flanking each potential player’s “hand.” The unique visibility limiting shutters of the original design return here, as do the windows for the communal flop, turn, and river cards. Gameplay is advanced by using the three pushers on the 9 o’clock side of the case to deal hands to each player, then subsequently revealing more cards each turn while sounding a mechanical chime. The unique in-house automatic PCK05 movement also returns from the original, with 655 individual components combining to allow 98,304 potential game outcomes in the poker complication, with each of the three players standing an approximately equal chance of winning. Double mainspring barrels allow for a 72 hour power reserve, while the movement itself is obscured through the sapphire display caseback thanks to the Poker’s second casino game – a winding rotor that includes a roulette wheel. Unlike the mechanical poker game, however, this game can be rigged with a “lucky number selector” on the caseback that tends to stop rotor spinning at a selected position.
