JeanRichard is the “introductory” brand of Girard-Perregaux, much like Rolex / Tudor. Well made, with its own styles, but using less expensive movements to keep prices more affordable. This is the Terrascope reference 60500-11-201-11A, a dress / sport hybrid with a design reminiscent of Gerald Genta and the Patek Philippe Nautilus.
The Terrascope, available with silver, black or blue dials, is large even for a sport watch at 44mm by 12.7mm and 50.0mm lug to lug. On the bracelet, it weighs in at 220g. With a wide bezel and beautiful finishing, this is a watch to command attention.
The bezel is vertically brushed on the top and mirror polished on the angled sides. That has to be hard to manufacture.
Even though it’s water resistant to 100m, the crown is not screw down, hinting at tight tolerances and fine engineering. I’m told by watchmaking friends that damaged crown threads are their #1 repair, so eliminating them is a good thing for a daily wearer. Note also the machined wells and logo on the crown – nicely made.
The bracelet, a 24mm design tapering to 22mm, is just gorgeous. Only the beveled edges and sides are polished. Looks great on the wrist. This is a dress diver, so a thinner double deployant is a sensible design decision.
The silver dial has clean, well-printed details and a nice vertical brushing. Minute markers are out on the rehaut, lending an uncluttered and clean appearance. The tip of the second hand is the only color, a small detail. Up close, the applied markers are complex in shape and well finished.
The movement is a bit of a mystery. It’s the JR60, with specs that sound a lot like the ETA 2824 or perhaps Sellita SW200. The review unit kept great time, with smooth winding and precise setting. Whatever it is, it’s well made.
That’s my 7.25″ wrist, as you can see it is a large watch. Comfort is good, and at 12.7mm it is decent at going under cuffs. To be honest, it’s a lot more comfortable than I expected given the width.

Overall, this is a well made watch in versatile style for the man wanting a modern size. I’d suggest looking at the other dial colors as well, as the polished hands on silver dials are sometimes hard to read, the darker dials should be more legible Price is $3,500. jeanrichard.com
