For me, this sponsored article is a great opportunity to be able to present our project to the most insightful group of connoisseurs that I know in the world of watchmaking blogs. I know that you’re difficult to win over and that your comments can sometimes be very critical. That’s why I’m going to introduce you to the Goldgena Project and our CODE41 label in the most humble and transparent way possible.

Our story is a distinctive one, because it starts in the heart of the Swiss watchmaking industry. My name is Claudio D’Amore and I am the founder of a watch design workshop, which for more than 10 years has collaborated with the most prestigious names in watchmaking. Here are just a few that we can mention: Tag Heuer, Parmigiani, Montblanc, Oris, Eberhard, and Hautlence.

It must be said that it isn’t the ideal time to be launching a new label. Yet it is often in times of crisis that we find the energy for change. This is how the Goldgena Project was born in March 2016, with the desire to create affordable but attractive mechanical watches, while also maintaining total transparency on origin, prices, and development.

We are fascinated by mechanical watches, especially those in which the mechanism is an integral part of the aesthetics of the piece. Unfortunately, these are often too expensive. In order to keep our prices affordable, we decided to use Miyota and ETA movements, but also to work on the design to create powerful pieces that radiate a mechanical aura.

From March through November we shared every step of the development of our project and models with our community, which currently consists of 15,000 registered members. The result: the creation of the CODE41 label and the launch of two models.

The features of our watches are as follows: 42mm diameter, sapphire glass with anti-reflective coating on both sides, 316L stainless steel, water resistant to 50m and interchangeable straps. The first piece, the ANOMALY-01, is fitted with the Japanese MIYOTA 82S7 movement with a central hour and minutes disc, seconds, and 24 hour discs. Our second model, the ANOMALY-02, is driven by a Swiss ETA 2824-2 movement which has hours, minutes, seconds, and a date window.

So why not “Swiss Made?” Swiss Made watches are high-quality and renowned worldwide for their excellence. Yet this isn’t because they are made in Switzerland, since a watch labeled ‘Swiss Made’ can be made up of components that almost all come from Asia. The real added value of Switzerland is the masterful ability to coordinate Swiss and international talent.

We have therefore decided to be totally transparent on the origin of our components, and to choose Swiss and foreign parts for their distinctiveness and high value for money, rather than to meet the criteria of the Swiss Made label.

Our project was born with the community, and it is thanks to the community that it is going to become a reality. On November 22nd, we launched our crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and after only 2 weeks we have already raised over $400,000. The special Kickstarter launch prices are still available for the next few days, and start from $447 (down from $647) for the Miyota model, ANOMALY-01, and from $525 (down from $750) for the ETA model, ANOMALY-02.
